JOFEN T6 & T10 Error Codes: Troubleshooting and Repair Guide

Seeing an error code on your JOFEN T6 or T10 display? This guide explains what each error code means, what you can safely check yourself, and when to contact JOFEN Support for further assistance.

Understanding JOFEN T6 & T10 Error Codes

If your JOFEN T6 or T10 detects a problem with the motor, throttle, controller, brake system, communication system or temperature, an error code may appear on the display.

Most error codes are shared by both models. Because the JOFEN T10 uses a dual-motor system, it also includes additional error codes for the front motor and front controller. This guide explains what each code means and the basic checks you can safely perform before contacting JOFEN Support.

Before You Start

Start with the simple checks first: turn the scooter off, wait about 10–20 seconds and restart it, then check that the battery has enough charge, both brake levers return normally, the throttle moves freely, and all visible cables and connectors are properly seated. If the same error code returns, use the guide below to identify the affected system and follow the basic checks you can safely perform before contacting JOFEN support.

E-01 — Rear Motor Hall Fault

E-01 means the scooter has detected a problem with the Hall sensor system in the rear motor. This may be related to the rear motor sensor, motor wiring or the connection between the motor and controller.

Turn the scooter off and inspect the visible rear motor cable and connector for looseness, damage, pinching or moisture. Make sure the motor cable near the rear wheel has not been pulled or damaged, then restart the scooter. If E-01 still appears, the rear motor Hall sensor, motor wiring or related electrical components may require further inspection.

E-02 — Throttle Fault

E-02 means the scooter has detected a problem with the throttle or its signal. The throttle may not be returning to its normal position, or there may be an issue with the throttle sensor, cable or connector.

Make sure the throttle moves freely and returns fully when released. Turn the scooter off and check the visible throttle cable and connector for looseness or damage, then restart the scooter without pressing the throttle. If E-02 still appears, the throttle sensor or related wiring may need further inspection.

E-03 — Rear Controller Fault

E-03 means the scooter has detected a fault related to the rear motor controller. The controller manages the power delivered from the battery to the rear motor, so this error may prevent the scooter from operating normally.

Turn the scooter off and allow it to rest for several minutes before restarting. Check for any obvious loose or damaged external wiring, and if the error appeared after heavy riding or climbing, allow the scooter to cool completely first. If E-03 still appears, the controller or related wiring may require further diagnosis.

E-04 — Brake Fault

E-04 means the scooter has detected an abnormal brake signal. If a brake sensor remains active, the controller may prevent the motor from delivering power.

Check both brake levers and make sure they return fully when released. Inspect the visible brake sensor cables and connectors for looseness or damage, then restart the scooter without touching the brake levers. If E-04 still appears, the brake sensor, brake lever switch or related wiring may need further inspection.

E-05 — Controller Undervoltage Protection

E-05 means the controller has detected that the available voltage is too low and has activated undervoltage protection. This commonly occurs when the battery charge is too low or when the electrical system is not supplying the expected voltage.

Check the battery level and fully charge the scooter using the correct JOFEN charger. After charging, disconnect the charger and restart the scooter. If E-05 still appears with a fully charged battery, the battery, battery management system, wiring or controller may require further diagnosis.

E-06 — Display Communication Fault

E-06 means the display is not receiving data correctly from the controller. This indicates a communication problem somewhere between the display and the controller.

Turn the scooter off and inspect the visible main display cable and wiring around the handlebar, stem and folding area. Check for loose connectors, pinched cables, damaged insulation or moisture, then restart the scooter. If E-06 still appears, the display cable, display unit, controller or internal communication wiring may require further inspection.

E-07 — Controller Communication Fault

E-07 means the controller is not receiving data correctly from the display. Like E-06, this is a communication fault, but in this case the interrupted signal is being sent from the display toward the controller.

Turn the scooter off and check the visible wiring and connectors between the display and controller, especially around the stem and folding mechanism. Make sure no cable has been stretched, crushed or partially disconnected, then restart the scooter. If E-07 still appears, the display, controller or communication wiring may require further diagnosis.

E-08 — Rear Motor Stall Protection

E-08 means the scooter has detected that the rear motor cannot rotate normally and has activated motor stall protection. This may happen if the rear wheel is mechanically blocked or if there is a problem with the motor or related wiring.

Turn the scooter off and check that the rear wheel can rotate normally. Look for debris around the tire, brake disc and motor area, and check whether the brake is rubbing excessively or anything is trapped around the wheel. If E-08 still appears even though the wheel moves freely, the motor, motor cable, controller or related wiring may require further inspection.

E-09 — Temperature Protection

E-09 means the scooter has detected an abnormal operating temperature and has activated temperature protection. This can occur after extended riding, repeated acceleration, steep climbs or other situations that place a high load on the electrical system.

Stop riding, turn the scooter off and move it to a dry, shaded and well-ventilated area. Allow the scooter to cool completely before restarting it, and avoid charging it while the components are unusually hot. If E-09 continues to appear during normal riding conditions, the scooter should be inspected for an underlying electrical or mechanical issue.

Additional Error Codes for JOFEN T10

The JOFEN T10 uses a dual-motor system, so it includes additional error codes for the front motor and front controller.

The following codes apply to the JOFEN T10 only.

E-11 — Front Motor Hall Fault

E-11 means the JOFEN T10 has detected a problem with the Hall sensor system in the front motor. This may be related to the front motor sensor, motor wiring or the connection between the front motor and controller.

Turn the scooter off and inspect the visible front motor cable and connector for looseness, damage, pinching or moisture. Make sure the cable has not been pulled or damaged near the front wheel, then restart the scooter. If E-11 still appears, the front motor Hall sensor, motor wiring or related electrical components may require further inspection.

E-13 — Front Controller Fault

E-13 means the JOFEN T10 has detected a fault related to the front motor controller. The front controller manages power delivery to the front motor and may affect dual-motor operation when a fault occurs.

Turn the scooter off and allow it to rest for several minutes before restarting. Check for any obvious loose or damaged external wiring related to the front drive system. If E-13 still appears, the front controller or related wiring may require further diagnosis.

E-18 — Front Motor Stall Protection

E-18 means the JOFEN T10 has detected that the front motor cannot rotate normally and has activated motor stall protection. This may be caused by a mechanical blockage or a problem with the front motor or related wiring.

Turn the scooter off and check that the front wheel can rotate normally. Look for debris around the tire, brake disc and motor area, and check whether the brake is rubbing excessively or anything is blocking the wheel. If E-18 still appears even though the wheel moves freely, the front motor, motor cable, controller or related wiring may require further inspection.

When to Contact JOFEN Support

Some issues can be resolved by checking the battery, brake levers, wheel movement and external cable connections. Frequently Asked Questions

Do the JOFEN T6 and T10 use the same error codes?

Most error codes are shared by both models. E-01 through E-09 apply to both the JOFEN T6 and T10. Because the T10 uses a dual-motor system, it also includes E-11, E-13 and E-18 for the front motor and front controller.

What should I do first when an error code appears?

Stop riding, turn the scooter off and note the error code shown on the display. Wait about 10–20 seconds, check the battery level, brake levers and visible cable connections, then restart the scooter. If the same error returns, follow the troubleshooting steps for that specific code.

Can I continue riding with an error code?

We do not recommend continuing to ride while an error code is active. The code may indicate a problem with the motor, controller, brake system or another important electrical component. Stop riding and identify the cause before using the scooter again.

What is the difference between E-06 and E-07?

Both codes indicate a communication problem between the display and controller. E-06 means the display is not receiving data from the controller, while E-07 means the controller is not receiving data from the display.

Why are E-11, E-13 and E-18 only listed for the T10?

The JOFEN T10 uses both front and rear motors, while the JOFEN T6 uses a rear motor only. E-11, E-13 and E-18 are specifically related to the T10 front motor and front controller system.

Can I repair the motor or controller myself?

Basic external checks such as inspecting visible cables, connectors, brake levers and wheel movement can be performed by the owner. Internal motor, controller and battery repairs should not be attempted unless specifically instructed by JOFEN Support.

What information should I send JOFEN Support?
