How to Replace a Tire or Inner Tube on the JOFEN T10 / T6

How to Replace a Tire or Inner Tube on the JOFEN T10 / T6

Before You Start

Difficulty: Intermediate

Typical tools: two correctly sized axle wrenches, the correct Allen key for the rim bolts, a tyre pump with pressure gauge, plastic tyre levers if required, protective gloves, and a compatible 10-inch tyre or inner tube.

Switch the scooter off, unplug the charger and support the frame securely so it cannot roll or fall. Allow the motor and brakes to cool before touching them.

Important compatibility check: JOFEN T6 uses 10-inch pneumatic tyres. T10 specifications and production batches may differ by market, so inspect the tyre, valve and rim before ordering parts. Follow the inner-tube and split-rim steps below only when your installed wheel uses an inner tube and a split rim. Do not separate a one-piece or tubeless rim.

Powered-wheel warning: the T10 has a motor cable at both wheels; the T6 has a motor cable at the rear wheel. Disconnect a powered wheel only at its proper connector. Never pull, twist or support the wheel by the cable.

Removing the wheel from a JOFEN T10 or T6 electric scooter

Step 1
Remove the Wheel

Remove any axle caps and take a clear photo of the washers, spacers and anti-rotation tabs before disassembly.

If this is a powered wheel, trace the motor cable to its connector, mark the connector orientation and disconnect it by holding the connector bodies — never the wires.

Loosen the axle nuts evenly with correctly sized wrenches. Remove the hardware in order, support the wheel and guide the brake disc carefully out of the caliper. If the disc does not clear safely, remove the caliper first rather than bending the rotor.

Step 2
Open the Split Rim

Release all air from the inner tube before loosening any rim bolts. Press the valve core until no pressure remains.

Use the correct Allen key to remove the split-rim bolts. Work around the rim and keep the bolts together. Separate the rim halves gently, then remove the tyre and old tube.

Do not force the rim apart with a screwdriver. If the rim is one piece, or the tyre is marked tubeless, stop and use the correct tubeless service procedure.

Step 3
Inspect the Tyre and Prepare the Tube

Run a cloth carefully around the inside of the tyre to find glass, wire or sharp debris. Inspect the tread, sidewalls, valve opening and both rim halves for cuts, cracks or sharp edges.

Replace a damaged tyre instead of fitting a new tube inside it. Add only enough air to the new tube for it to hold a round shape.

Partial inflation reduces folds and helps prevent the tube from being pinched during reassembly.

Step 4
Reassemble the Tyre and Rim

Check the tyre rotation arrow and identify the brake-disc side before assembly. Place the partially inflated tube fully inside the tyre and align the valve with the rim opening.

Fit the first rim half, then install the second half without trapping the tube between the metal edges. Insert every rim bolt by hand before tightening.

Tighten the bolts gradually in a criss-cross or star pattern so the rim closes evenly. Use the torque specified for your exact wheel; do not guess or over-tighten.

Step 5
Inflate and Check the Bead

Inflate the tyre in stages. Stop several times to check that the bead is seated evenly on both sides and that the valve remains straight.

Use the pressure printed on the installed tyre or specified in the manual for your exact model and load. Do not use a pressure copied from a different tyre.

If the bead rises unevenly, the valve leans sharply or the tube bulges, release the air and correct the assembly before continuing.

Step 6
Reinstall the Wheel

Return every washer, spacer and anti-rotation tab to the same side and orientation recorded before removal.

Guide the brake disc between the pads without forcing it. Seat the axle completely in the swingarm or fork slots, then install the outer hardware by hand.

Reconnect the motor cable on powered wheels, align the connector marks and secure the cable along its original route. Keep it away from the tyre, brake disc, suspension and sharp edges.

Step 7
Tighten and Test

Tighten both axle fasteners evenly to the value specified for your model. Refit any caliper or axle covers that were removed.

Spin the wheel by hand. It should rotate smoothly without tyre contact, cable contact or continuous brake rubbing. Squeeze the brake several times and confirm normal lever feel.

Power the scooter on only after the wheel, brake and motor cable have passed the hand check. Complete the first braking test at walking speed in a clear area.

Final Safety Check

Before riding, confirm all of the following:

• The axle is fully seated and both fasteners are secure.
• Split-rim bolts are evenly tightened and the valve is straight.
• The tyre bead is even and the pressure matches the installed tyre.
• The motor connector is fully seated and the cable cannot touch moving parts.
• The brake disc sits correctly in the caliper and the wheel spins freely.
• The brake stops the scooter consistently during a walking-speed test.

Stop and contact JOFEN support or a qualified repair technician if the wheel will not seat fully, the motor connector is inaccessible, the rim is damaged, or the brake cannot be restored to safe operation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does every JOFEN T10 or T6 wheel use an inner tube?

Do not assume that every production batch is identical. Inspect the installed tyre, valve and rim, and confirm the replacement part for your serial number. Use this split-rim procedure only when the wheel is designed for a tube and the rim separates into two halves.

Why should the new inner tube be partially inflated?

A small amount of air helps the tube keep its shape, reduces folds and makes it less likely to be trapped between the two rim halves.

Do I need to disconnect a motor cable?

Yes when removing a powered wheel. Both T10 wheels are powered; the T6 rear wheel is powered. Hold the connector bodies, mark their orientation and never pull on the wires.

What should I do if the wheel does not spin freely after installation?

Do not ride. Check washer order, axle seating, motor-cable routing and brake-caliper alignment. Correct continuous brake rubbing or tyre contact before powering the scooter.
